Former candidate for president John Edwards dropped a bombshell this morning. Despite the mainstream media’s attempt to cover up for Edwards‘ many lies about his affair with former staffer Rielle Hunter and his fatherhood of her baby Quinn, he admitted today that he is indeed the baby’s father.
In a statement released to NBC, Edwards says, “I am Quinn’s father. … It was wrong for me ever to deny she was my daughter and hopefully one day, when she understands, she will forgive me.”
John Edwards and his wife, Elizabeth, have separated, friends say.
The admission came after many months of denials and after the mainstream media covered up for Edwards to the best of their ability during and after the presidential campaign of 2008, which eventually was won by now President Barack Obama.
To me, the controversy is less about what Edwards did and did not do, then about the mainstream media’s attempt to bury this story before it even got out. The little respected National Inquirer, together with the always underestimated blogosphere, were eventually the ones who covered Edwards‘ affair with Hunter and him being Quinn’s father. Without them, Americans would never have known about it.
Keep an eye on Fox News for more information on the scandal: Edwards’ lawyer will appear on Fox News later today to elaborate on his client’s statement.
h/t to Liz Blaine for the story.
